Thoukididis Valentis (1908 – 1982) is one of the most important representatives of modernism in Greece, who achieved to mark through his work the architecture of Greek cities. The documentary presents the relationship of the architect with the everyday architectural practice, which was already developed from the period of the interwar and evolved radically during the fifty years of his action in Greece.
The aim of the documentary ‘Thoukididis Valentis: A life in the grid’ is the elevation of the architect’s design thinking process, emphasizing on the office buildings he designed and realized in the 50s and the 60s. For his work speak the professors of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and researchers of his work Ch. Sahana, Em. Stefanidou and S. Tsitiridou, as well as his children.
The film, during a frontal read of his work, focuses on the important meaning of the facades of the office building and the grid as a structural generator of space.
